The Veritable TechNinja
I don't even think the biggest dorks on my friends list will remember Scorched Earth (unless I mentioned how fun it was to play drunk to them at some point), but someone appears to have redone it for Windows with internet and LAN play. Mmmm, sweet projectile-based gaming happiness.

I've been playing that for at least two years. It's great, but really requires a two button and wheel mouse.

I've got that covered, got one of the fancy Logitech laser mice with my new PC. Is the game anywhere near as fun as the original?

With it's nifty internet play, it's actually more fun. It's a really, really good version, and the requirements aren't too high. I play at 1600x1200 all the time, although I haven't tried it on my PowerBook yet. It also runs greatn on a kinda crappy dell laptop at 1024x768.

I'd love to play a few rounds with you, but unfortunately it seems to kill my graphics card driver after I quit the game, Windows was telling me I didn't have rights to adjust my display settings when I tried to get out of 640x480, which the game left me at albeit I was playing at 1600x1200. Odd.

On another note, it looks like quite a few of my friends remember Scorched Earth. I think I still have my DOS boot floppy with a copy on it, I do believe this calls for a drunken SE tournament.

Oh yes, I remember that game from back in the d-a-y. I've been meaning to give this new version a shot at some point...

If you're all ever up for a game, let me know... I've had it going quite a number of times. It's a really, really good game.

The Mother of All Games.

Columbus Day weekend, my freshman year, we played a fifty-round, ten-tank marathon, and listened to =everything= Wierd Al had put out up to that point.

Fuck, was I a big dork. ;-)

Damn, that's eerily similar to most of my middle/early high school experience. Go to the 7-11, buy a case of Ho-Hos and a 23483684oz Slurpee, go to M's house, watch Army of Darkness, play Street Fighter II/Bolo/Scorched Earth, and make prank phone calls. I think we have a dork war on our hands here.
