It's funny. I understand this place in many forms. It's a server, running a home-brewed database-querying bastardization based on HTML. It's a forum. It's companionship. It's release. I noticed this when I was typing, and for once Netscape didn't fill in what it thought best for me, then move the cursor so if I changed my mind, I would erase what I had typed. In and of itself, it's nothing more than another domain in a vast sea of endless tripe. But one variable, that ever-present remnant of UNIX folklore, the tilde. HOME. The character chosen by some guru so many years ago to designate that the characters that follow comprise a userID. A person. I noticed this, but I continued to type. The second part flowed out from repetition, like my passwords. That continuation was FRIENDS. Other people. I guess that's kind of deep. Thanks, folks. Feels good when a lot of things don't.
Ray jumped on the phone right after he heard me pick up the other one. I was going to call Rob and Lexie and ask if they'd like to come over for deliberately bad movies and cheeze kurls. I'm still going to. If not, I'm not giving up until I find a connection.
If you're wondering what brought about this great introspection, it was the Maxx tape I borrowed from Rob. I guess I know now why I never bothered to pop it in until today. Today I could feel it.
