Theosophy thought:
In the norse religion, there is a brief mention of an overgod that created the Asatru gods. No one ever really expounded upon that, but there's also documentation of people "trading up" and worshiping that deity. Since religion is fabricated, wouldn't the fabricator more or less be that ultimate deity? Wonky. Man makes god, god makes gods, gods make men, men worship gods, man worships god, god is man. Ow, my head.

Utoh, you brought up something I actually have knowledge of. ;) However, being doped up on cold medicine, I am not going to touch this right now.

There's a turn of phrase I've picked up from my west coast Heathen friends known as UPG. UPG is Unsubstantiated Personal Gnosis. As I, and a few other people feel, on some level ALL mythology was once someone's UPG.

I believ the Gods are real, but as for what the Gods really ARE... that's another subject entirely. :)

that's actually common in almost all major belief systems...in vodou there's an grand architecht deity but he's unaproachable, too busy creating and destroying universes to give a rat's ass about man...and of course in qabalah you could have the infinite as some prime source that gives birth to all other lower levels of manifestation...etc etc
