Inspired by /friendsfriends:

I hate vegans. "I stopped eating tofu cream chese (WTF?) because it has hydrogenated oils in it." You dumb cunt. Hydrogenated. Hydrogen-ated. It's got hydrogen in it. Big goddamn deal. SO DOES FUCKING WATER, THAT'S THE H in H2O! That kind of knee-jerk reaction to the slightest hint of sience puts you on the same level as fundamentalist Christians to me. Hydrogenated soybean oil is margarine. You know, what you eat because you don't eat dairy. What was invented so you don't give your dumb ass a stroke. I really ought to beat you senseless with a no-BGH, free-range cow testicle.

Interesting. Apparently margerine can be made with any number of different vegetable or animal fats. So not necessarily vegan. I'm sure these people do research to find out which brands use which fats. *rolls eyes*

Yeah, I'm vegetarian, but I'm not dumb, or self righteous about it.

Hell, Preety used to be vegetarian, there's nothing wrong with being a moral person, or just eating what tastes good, or eating to stay healthy. What made me mad was the total ignorance in the face of a simple, commonly-used technological term. I'd say "hydrogen never killed anybody", but then there's that whole Hindenburg thing. None the less, it's just hilarious that someone stops eating one thing because it's made with something they don't even know they eat every day.

But hydrogenated oil isn't good for you, in terms of bad fats.

It's got saturated fats in it, sure, but so does un-hydrogenated oil. I mean, it's _oil_.

Collectively I think you and I could discuss this topic for at least a year, with bathroom breaks.

All vegans are ignorant. I hold them right up there with the flat-earthers and the god-hates-fags people.

Hydrogenated oil is bad because your body doesn't process it very well. It's the difference between using vegetable oil, and using the oil that they've fried french fries in for a day. Non-hydrogenated oil is FAR better for you.

You'd have to ask Daniela about the chemistry. I'm just a simple caveman IT guy.
