The Veritable TechNinja
Well, that was... Fun?
Started the Thursday nights at Labyrinth last night. Things started off smoothly, everything was going great. The people were nice, the music was good. I don't know what happened as the night went on, but all of a sudden some 30-something chick was drunkenly babbling at me. Something about the Renaissance and having long hair. I had played my mix of Thorns, and apparently she was angry she didn't get to wobble around like some kind of Edwardian alcoholic with an inner ear infection because the bridge in Thorns just sounded better with some Monty Python mixed in. C'mon, you can't take Wumpscut too seriously. As the night progressed further, the percentage of people there who managed to keep a hold on their mental faculties declined dramatically. All of a sudden some chick is going off on the "paying customer" rant because I wouldn't play what would have been the FIFTH Depeche Mode track that night, with three songs left until close, less than 15 minutes since I completely broke music styles by playing the New Order track she wanted. Quite frankly, if I wanted to be a jukebox, I would have rented myself out to Wurlitzer. Needless to say, if she ever approaches the booth again she's going to have a short and unpleasant encounter with Ron and the street, in that order. I had four people enjoying the Tom Jones song I put on instead. Looking forward to next week, but I have to remember to bring my screwdrivers to take apart the CD deck and get Preety's mix CD back out. Yes, the Lab's equipment _still_ doesn't work.
Long story short, this night needs a better crowd. That's where you come in. Come out for a while, it's cheap and comfortable, and if we all start coming, we'll all have friends to talk to. By all means, bring requests, it's a small club and needs energy. Speaking thereof, sweet mother of god am I tired.
