Hey, what's going on with you?
It's a really, really long story at this point.
Video games are great. It's funny, I dig them, but I haven't played anything regularly in a long time. On this box I'd proably have to go with something like toombraider or diablo, though..., but then I do like antiques. LOL. What was that game with the land of eversmile, where you get to take all the happy people and put them in dungeons? I think I need a new game, too- it's great stress relief. I'm glad to hear that things are looking a little more up. ~Nikki

Your machine should be able to run Scorched Earth 3D, I posted about it a while ago. It's pretty fun, you basically get to use all kinds of fantastical projectiles to blow the living crap out of tanks. Lovely stress relief.
Yeah, there seems to be a lot of grinding in Stella Deus. I got spanked trying to take on Viper with 2nd level characters, so I went back and did all the available Guild quests as well as grinding a bit in the Catacombs.
In addition to XP, some of the guild quests net you new generic characters, so I went into the Viper battle a second time with an extra Cleric, Iron Fist, and Archer as well as having pretty much everybody at 4th level. It was a whole lot easier, although Viper STILL killed the Alchemist chick in one turn when he managed to get in a swing during the boot party we were throwing him.
Yup, going through guild quests now. Really really hoping this game doesn't end up with the balance problems that made me stop playing FF Tactics.
Stick with the hard game instead of just going back to disgaea. If the game is as hard as you say it is right now, it will probably be really fun by mid-end game.
I don't give up that easily unless to story or characters really, really suck. The former is why I stopped playing Tactics Ogre, the latter why I stopped playing FFVIII. I hate Squall, he's a whiny spoiled brat.
In other news, I think you'd really like Strategy RPGs. You seem like you would have a mind for tacical exploitation.
Yeah, i really, really hated squall. And actually, my favorite game... ever, is x-com:ufo defense. And then after that it's final fantasy tactics even though it got totally broken once you learned the fancy jp farming tricks. So i'd say, actually, that i've got a pretty big thing for strategy rpg's as it is. I've been wanting to play disgaea really badly because the character design is awesome and the gameplay looks fantastic, but having no gainful source of employment i haven't been able to afford luxuries like a ps2 or games. I really liked front mission on super famicon, it just got too easy after a while. Did you ever notice you can completely upgrade every mech you've got after every single battle? If you haven't noticed that, i have a fully translated rom i'll mail you some day <(^_^<).
Holyshit. Well, that affirms my suspicion you're a gamer. Damn.
My favorite of all time is Skies of Arcadia, followed by FFVI, then Disgaea. You _need_ to play Disgaea as soon as possible. If you love to exploit the game mechanic, Disgaea was specifically designed for you to go nuts. The characters are awesome, if a little stereotypical, and the artwork is fantastic. Tremendous replay, too, about 65 hours of main story gameplay plus almost infinite extra quests.
Yeah i read up a lot on it, the whole item world thing sounds really interesting, and yeah, i am a pretty hardcore gamer actually. I've been playing the tekken series since it originally came out at my bowling alley, I owned an nes and genesis the day they came out. The first game i got for my snes was final fantasy 2. Pop quiz hot-shot: Shadowrun for snes or genesis! I know you're going to answer genesis. I, personally, liked snes.
I beat battle toads with a friend once.
Actually I was a SNES kid, I thought the Genesis graphics were inferior and I wasn't a Sonic fan. As for Tekken, I'm decent, but you should try playing around against Preety some time. I get down on Soul Calibur 2.
The system I miss most is my old Turbo Grafx 16. Bonk's Adventure, Cadash, Neutopia, Splatterhouse... Good times.
Ha, splatterhouse was a classic. Man, we really need to get together some time, i am extremely good at soul calibur 2, and i know some heads who could probably put up a fight. We'll scrap some time.
The only reason i said you'd probably vote genesis was because it's more faithful to the pnp system. Like... way more faithful. And while i've never been that into pnp games, i noticed you trying to break down conan the barbarian into dicerolls a while back. Sorry i keep replying in duplicate but i haven't discussed games with a dork of my calibur in ages. When's the next day/time you're free?
I should read both comments before I reply to one. How about Wednesday at 7:00 at my place?
Oh, and if PNP means something like book & dice roleplaying games, hell no. Don't have the set time to devote to it every day/week/whatever, and the crowd tends to be off the social skills chart, even for a geek like myself. No D&D, no 40K, no CCGs, certainly no LARP or cosplay. Ick.
We'll see. I do believe gaming, drinking, and sushi is imminent. Name a date and time, I work M-F and get off at 6:00.
