I am incredibly stupid to not realize that a 56"x24"x1" slab of glass is going to be really fucking heavy. Oh well, the AV rack is up the stairs and ready to assemble, the TV stand is at the base of the stairs (our new apartment is weird, private entry but up a staircase with a closet at the bottom). There was absolutely no fucking way in hell I was getting that monster up there myself.
On the upside, ABC Warehouse let me steal the TV for a completely unreasonable price. Seriously, the only way I could have gotten it any cheaper would have been to order it from some anonymous, shady online retailer. Salesmen are dumb. Walk in and work them up by saying you're going to buy a large TV in the immediate future, along with a bunch of furniture, cabling, and service contracts. Let them show you the unit, then show them a list of prices $800 cheaper on the net. Tell them you _really_ don't want to order it online, and explain that you want to give him your money right now as long as he can get close. Then, once you've got the price quote, yank the cabling and contracts out from under them. Shit, I even got him to give me the stand and rack for cost. Dumbass. This is also how I got my car for just about invoice.
On the downside, I was dazed from severe wallet trauma (it's still a 50" DLP HDTV and a bunch of furniture), and forgot to go to Ethan Allen to order the sectional. MUST DO THAT TOMORROW NO MATTER WHAT. It takes 6-8 weeks for delivery, and my lease expires in 7 weeks. The bed frame is looking like an online order, the dresser and nightstands are available any time from Gardner White, and the coffee table is still up in the air. Might hold off on that until I've got the TV stand and amp rack assembled to make sure they look good together. Got multiple potential buyers for the TV, one unconfirmed buyer for the couch (it's a great, comfy couch for $75! You know you want it!), no bites on the dresser/bed frame (hand-carved maple!), and I've still got to go to the antique dealer to see about selling the Victrola. I can honestly chill on the selling stuff until we're ready to move, I can't actually get rid of any of it until mid-September.
And now, to Luna and possibly Mephisto's if it's dead. Don't really want to go to City tonight, yesterday was pretty fucking dead and I'm still reading about some kind of drama. Would definitely like to hear Marc spin, but that's about the only draw factor. The only people I really knew that were there last night were DJs, except for hov1818 and angelopercieval. Where was everyone last night?
