I may have thought about going before they started charging admission (you have to admit the pyrotech employed for the actual burning man itself is neat), but the recent news that one of the founders is suing for rights to sell t-shirts is proof enough that it's over.

You're right, that does sound a bit snobby as stated. To be more specific, the event as it was originally conceived and executed has been displaced by an entirely different event with the same name, superficial similarities, and a totally unrelated spirit. By 2020 it'll be like any other party destination.
