The church is advocating bodmod?

Actually, you dumb bastard, if it was a rock you'd be in worse shape. Lucky.

British rainmaking experiments caused fatal flooding.

Well, couch shopping was for the most part a bust. The first place I went to was on the opposite side of the divided street I'd been stuck crawling along for the previous half hour, and I only realized this when I noticed I had no chance of squeezing across the lane to get to it. The man who owned the place was pretty cool, but there really wasn't all that much I wanted. 40% off, though. I could afford pretty much everything in there but the one that caught my eye. S'okay, it was uncomfortable anyway. So I moved on. Two of the stores I went to didn't carry sofas, and they were both closed anyway. Couldn't find the next one I went to, the numbers along Old Woodward seem to spontaneously jump right over the one I was looking for. No, it wasn't upstairs. The place I _really_ wanted to go to closed at 6, and it was my last stop and the only one I got lost trying to find. I finally gave up and headed to the giant Art Van I passed on Woodward. Got denied when I applied for credit. Fuckers. I did find a backup couch, though. It's comfy, but it's artistically null and kind of expensive. Downside was in all that time I spent there sitting on everything they had, I lost my lighter. I came back to look for it, the pushy salesman immediately tracked me down. "Ahh, I see you've decided to come back and take a closer look at this fine couch!". I explained my situation, he told me he'd call me if he found it. He did, and he did. So it's off to Woodward and 14 mile tonight to hit the place that was closed and pick up my lighter. Got to stop by the apartment, though, as Cap's giving me the keys and moving the last of his stuff out. Whee, another 3 hours driving around Birmingham at rush hour!

looks at it this way though-if you find a comfy but oogly couch you could always find some fabric to cover it with, so it is truly p1mp in your eyes.

and that church article was interesting. For a minute I thought it would be about THE Church. heh.

When I first moved up here and realized that i was going to need couches of reasonable coolness, I went the same route and tried to find anything doable (both aesthetically and monetarily). It was quite a battle.

The only place that I found which was worthwhile was the huge salvation army in Detroit. I got two of the coolest, hugest couches I have seen, for pretty damn cheap. (Talked them down to $400 for the pair). You might want to check it out.

I thought about that, but I don't really want someone else's old couch. I mean, I could clean it up and all, but it'd still be a used couch. Some stranger probably had sex on it.
